HP Mini 5102 Reviewed in Depth at Liliputing

The HP Mini 5102 has had my eye since I saw it at CES 2010 so I was excited to see that Brad Linder at Liliputing has an incredibly detailed review of the HP Mini 5102 netbook up. The HP Mini 5102 isn’t your standard netbook, it’s designed for business or education use, which means it comes with a higher price — but higher end options that you won’t find in most netbooks.

The unit that Liliputing reviews has the optional touchscreen, speedy hard drive and also the Durakeys finish that claims to make the keyboard finish last up to 50 times longer.

Brad found that the touchscreen was quite responsive and while it won’t work with a stylus, it does support multitouch gestures. That said he found that the touchscreen seemed to provide a less vibrant display and ultimately didn’t see the point of a touchscreen on the 5102. Additionally, Linder found the keyboard was pleasantly laid out and provided an above average WPM typing experience.

One other thing I want to point out before you head over and read the full review is that the HP Mini 5102 comes with an LED indicator on the battery to show how much battery life is left. This is great, and I wish every battery would come with such a feature. You may not think it is that important, but never needing to boot your computer up to see if you have enough juice before running out the door is amazing.
