Three Verizon Christmas Ads Attack AT&T’s 3G Coverage

Verizon’s launched three new’There’s a Map for That’ commercials, attacking AT&T’s 3G coverage. These three new ads follow a lawsuit filed by AT&T against Verizon that called the original ‘There’s a Map for That’ ad misleading.

The new ads are aimed at holiday shoppers. The first Verizon commercial borrows a scene from Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer. An iPhone finds itself on the Island of Misfit Toys. At first, the toys welcome the iPhone, but mock it once its 3G coverage map is revealed.

In the below ad, an elf is wrapping up gifts for good kids. An iPhone 3Gs is thrown in a box for a naughty kid, who will have to be use AT&T’s 3G service.

And here’s one for you Elvis fans. This Verizon commercial shows a dad on a business trip getting frustrated by his iPhone’s lack of coverage. He’s having a ‘Blue Christmas’ until he gets home and is hugged by his son and reminded there’s a Map for That.

It’s important to remember that the map displayed in these commercials if for 3G coverage only. AT&T’s EDGE platform does cover most of the country, making it possible for iPhone users to get online with a slower connection compared to 3G.
