I hate that my computer is slow and the fan is loud, but I love that it is so portable and has crazy battery life.

    • Dino says:

I love that my netbook lasts over 6 hours on a single battery. I hate that I cant encode my videos with it. Otherwise, its all I need in a portable internet device. Digg it.

      Dell Inspiron E1405

What are the top three pros and cons of it?

No touch screen and battery life is starting to be pathetic. but It gets the job done. The screen is a descent size but its not super heavy so I can still remain fairly mobile

Is there anything in particular that you love/hate about it?

Its started to get slower so i need to reformate.

LOVE the size & power of an 06 iMac because I work intensively with imaging & photography.

HATE this little grey umbilical cord thingee that keeps me perpetually tethered inside! Even to be able to go to ANOTHER ROOM let alone OUTSIDE would really be grand!

I currently use an Aopen MiniPC. Things I love include its very small footprint, nice design, and the fact that it uses very little power.

Things I am not crazy about include I can’t take it with me when I travel (time for a notebook), it’s a little too loud, and I can’t upgrade the video capability so that my kids can play games on it.

Overall, it has been a great computer and I like not having a full sized power hungry computer sitting on my desk.

What I love about my computer is that its an old friend that I’d consistently upgraded when I could and about 2 years ago, it met all requirements that I needed for school and work.

What I HATE about my computer is at one point I came across an upgrade roadblock to where it would be cheaper to purchase a new computer all together. Currently its being held together with spit, screws, and an “I believe I can” sense of duty.

  8. betty crawford says:

I’m using an HP slimline desktop. I love the small size, the small price, and the large hard drive. What I don’t like is that I don’t have a laptop, so I’m chained to this desk, it didn’t come with a new monitor, and it can’t go to work for me while I stay home and watch TV.

My old faithful desktop died, and I just got this 2 weeks ago. It works real well, and I’m thankful for it. Going without a computer is no fun.

The only computer we have in our home (our family of 5) is an Apple iMac G5 that we purchased in 2005. We purchased this particular model because I needed it for some Artmatic software that I use for my digital art that only works on Apple computers. For the first few years I adored this computer. But in the summer of 2007 the computer died and when I took it in for server found out the inverter, logic board and 2 fans needed to be replaced. Once that was done the computer ran “okay” for about a year and then more of the old computer issues resurfaced, the computer started shutting down automatically, sometimes it wouldn’t restart when we shut it down, and we have been struggling with keeping it alive ever since.

The pros are that when I works efficiently, I love it, but the cons are it is no longer dependable, we don’t want to invest any more money into that we already have, and we fear everyday that it is not going to work. I am now writing on my blog, I have commitments to companies that I need to make sure I follow through with, and if I don’t have a working computer, I do not know what I am going to do.

Another con of our old iMac is that it is a stationary computer. I cannot bring it with me to work on in any other room of the house, except for where it is set up in our family room. I would love the flexibility of being able to work from anywhere in the house, or when I am away from the house. Being able to do this would literally change my life, I would experience a freedom that I never have before. That is why I am so hoping to win a wonderful netbook or laptop! It would rock my world on so many levels!

Thanks for letting me share my story!

    • danwat1234 says:

Perhaps it is shutting down randomly because it is overheating. Take a dust can to the CPU heatsink and other heatsinks. This is probably the source of your problems.

  12. Ed H. says:

My current computers are my MacBook Pro (Core Duo 2.0 GHz) and a Core i7 965 desktop with Radeon 4870X2.

The three main ‘pro’s for my MacBook Pro are that it is nicely portable, fast enough for most mobile uses, and runs OS X Snow Leopard. The downsides are that it is painfully slow for video editing, the battery is getting pretty bad (I’m on my 5th, and now even that one only lasts about an hour instead of the 4 hours it lasted new,) and, well, it run OS X. (I had XP on it via Boot Camp; and have tried the Windows 7 RC, but Apple doesn’t provide good drivers for Win7 yet.)

My i7 desktop is nice and fast, plays games really well, and is an excellent media center system (my daughter is watching cartoons on it right now.) But, it’s a desktop. Big and definitely NOT portable. Windows 7 is nice on it an all; but I really like iMovie for movie editing, so the lack of OS X on it is a con. Finally, my video card is failing. It’s a 4870X2 I got free because it had been dropped. It worked fine for a few months; but now all of a sudden the ATI drivers don’t recognize the second GPU! (And one of the DVI ports is broken, so I can only use one display.)

What kind of computer (make and model) are you currently using? What are the top three pros and cons of it? Is there anything in particular that you love/hate about it?

I currently use an HP dv9700t customized notebook and it’s over a year old. I love the large 17″ screen, the fast processor it came with and the HP tools (hp health check, hp help & support) that came preinstalled on it.

However, I’m not very happy with the small hard drive size or the speed (~ 250gb 5400rpm) and the awful battery life on this laptop (less than 2.2 hrs watching a DVD). With the amount of data I store on my laptop, the minimum hard drive sizes offered should be from 320gb and up.

Overall, I like the laptop and with Windows 7, it has a new lease on life.

  16. kathe444 says:

I’m using a Dell desktop. The top three pros are reliability, familiarity and cost (hey, it was a gift). The top three cons are that it’s a desktop and I need mobility now, it’s slower than I need for my apps, and that it’s outdated in both power and apps. What I hate most about it that I’m tied to an old desktop with none of the advantages of some.

I’m kathe444 on Twitter and I’m following you and have tweeted twice.

I would love, love, love the HP Envy 15 – it’s a dream come true for me. Thanks for the opportunity!

  27. I have a dell inspiron.

Pros – works well, great monitor, pretty fast

Cons – too big to travel with, sometimes ca’t handle too many open programs, not an hp mini

I hate that I need to lug it around even when I only need email and internet. I have personal info on it and worry.

    3 Pros:

    Portable

    Backlite Keyboard

    3 Cons:

    No HDMI Port

    Gets Hot

    Cannot Game at Higher Res.

I love how this laptop gets 5 hours of battery life I can take it anywhere it is extremely small and thin. I really hate how there is no HDMI port I use HDMI on my TV everyday with my PS3 and AppleTV.

    Pro:

    1) It’s a convertible tablet pc. I can touch and/or type.

    2) It’s small enough to carry around everyday.

    3) For it’s specs, it’s relatively cheap.

    Cons:

    1) It gets really *burning* hot and loud.

    2) When I’m multi-tasking, it stops responding, quite frequently.

    3) Battery life is disappointing.

Cons: runs extremely hot, runs pretty slow, is falling apart slowly. Would love to have something that can actually do everything I wanted in a laptop rather than struggle with the basics.

What kind of computer (make and model) are you currently using? I’m using an HP TouchSmart IQ816

What are the top three pros and cons of it?

    Pros: 1) 25.5″ Screen 2) Touch 3) Built-in TV Tuner Cons: 1) Touch 3) lack of composite/HDMI input

Is there anything in particular that you love/hate about it? I love/hate it’s most touted feature: touch. Conceptually, touch is amazing. But in practice, touch on a traditional desktop computer is a mixed bag. It’s a great way to interact with the designed-for-touch HP UI-flicking through photos, tapping to play a song etc. But trying to use touch on the standard windows UI or even trying to use the touch-UI for extended periods is an exercise in fatigue and frustration.

I’m currently using a desktop replacement Voodoo Envy 709 laptop (dating to before HP purchased Voodoo). It is starting to suffer wear and tear from heavy usage. Although a beautiful machine, when I wrote desktop replacement, that is precisely what it is, weighing in at 13 pounds and thus a laptop in description only rather than mobility. Even if the weight wasn’t an issue, battery life is only an hour.

Thus, cons are weight, short battery life and heavy usage.

Pros are easy — It is the predecessor to the current Envy machines, solidly built and makes a great desktop or gaming machine.

    Cons:

    2. Bogs down easily

    3. Not the largest memory

I’d use it to keep my blogs updated & family updated on the kids. Main communication hub as I am a stay at home mom.

I am using a Dell Dimension DXP061 desktop which actually works well but alas, (con) its not exactly portable. The only other 2 cons I can think of is that I am still making payments on it and tech help is usually some guy in India that I can’t understand. (Pros) Large Widescreen Moniter, lots of software for pretty much everything I need to do and great speakers with sub-woofer for listening to tunes.

The thing I most love about it is the sound system, it really is better than my portable stereo system.

    Cons:

    -Runs rather hot

    -Annoyingly large bezel

    -Design too glossy (personal taste)

I’m using a Gateway M-6307 laptop, I like the mobility and clarity of the screen, and it’s easy to tote about, those are my top 3′s. But it’s running slow for me of late. It’s taking about 10 minutes to boot up fully before I can even access anything. I tend to do a lot of research and keeping a lot of tabs open on the internet tends to slow the browser to the point of crashing and MMORPG’s run much slower then I’d like. (Those are the cons). I love having a laptop and mine has been all over the world with me, I love that, battle scars, you know? However, the need for speed (time is money) means I have to keep up with the fastest technology.

I have an ASUS G1s. In its day, it’s been a great little notebook; it’s a perfect balance of portability and power, had an affordable price tag, and definitely had its own style which set it apart from the other machines in the computer lab.

But it has major problems. For starters, it has terrible battery life. I don’t always play games; sometimes I’d like to sit in the coffeehouse in the library and just read while I consult with other students. It’s battery life requires that I always be plugged into a wall. It’s also hellishly warm; I’m afraid I’ll lose data on my hard drive if I push it too hard with 3D games because it gets too hot! Finally, it’s just lost some of its luster. I could really use a new machine that’s faster, has a better battery life, and is more portable – it would make my daily research and studying that much easier.

    -Nice wide 17″ screen.

    -Dual hard drive bays.

    Cons:

    What I like about it:

    1) I can use both Windows and MAC O/S on the same computer.

    2) Good speed and power

    3) Great monitor screen !

What I don’t like about it.

    1) Very poorly designed frame:

It’s a real project to unscrew about 300 tiny bitty screws, to crack it open just to change the modem (which quit abruptly after a year :) , and never did get all the screws back in the way they were. Hoping nothing else goes wrong with it. Do not want to open it ever again!

    2) Expensive replacement parts – The power cord frayed after 3 years, and had to be replaced, for $80.

    3) MAC O/S updates completely killed my Tiger O/S software about a year ago, and I spent 3 months trying to fix it and had to buy Leopard to try to fix it. Not pleased with the MAC O/S at this point.

Presently, I’m using a Dell Inspiron Desk Top. I do like the computer in general, but I hate that it is not portable. I’m finding that I’m working from home more and more often and would love to have the option of a notebook to bring with me, so I’m not tied to my home all the time.

I am currently using a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6960 notebook computer. It was my first notebook computer and I was really excited to get one. So excited, in fact, that I didn’t really look into the specs because I was very inexperienced in notebook buying and all I wanted was a new notebook for college. Although I did end up buying a great notebook, it has its issues. First off, I love that the battery life lasts up to 5-7 hours. It can handle my daily tasks well, it doesn’t overheat unlike most other notebooks, and the sound is great for a notebook.

What I don’t like so much is how fast it is. For normal tasks it works great but I want really intensive programs to run smoothly and I also want to play intensive games and this notebook simply is not capable of handling it sadly :( (I’m a real big gamer btw). As much as I am a gamer, I am a music lover and because I travel a lot I need to constantly keep my portable music device up to date. The Satellites (my notebook) have/has an issue with connecting iPods and being able to sync them on iTunes. I can’t connect my iPod to my notebook without the whole thing freezing and forcing me to manually shut it down. : This is such an important thing to me because I use my iPod as my “safeguard” should my notebook die and I have such a large music library that I update all the time.

So basically, the HP Envy would make me so much happier and allow me to sync everything I need and be up to date, even when I’m on the go. It would definitely be my intense gaming buddy, and it makes me drool just thinking about finally having something fast enough to play my games!

    3. decent processor, core 2 duo 2.4 ghz I think

    cons:

    1. since it’s a tablet the speakers are very lacking

    2. the battery life is not as long as I would like it, only about 2 classes worth so like 2ish hours

The cons are that it doesn’t have enough memory to run Sims 3 and I bought that game recently and can’t play it (BIG GRRRRRRRRRRRR!), it freezes up sometimes while I’m trying to blog hop, and the stupid toolbar won’t adjust and I can’t figure out why. (don’t laugh, I’ve tried; I pretty technologically savvy but darnit! this stupid toolbar!) I bought the pc used so I didn’t do it!

The top 3 pros are that it is working for one, Two I was able to add memory for speed, Three it keeps me up to date with the world. The top three cons well 1 is that I have to stay in one place to be on my computer. Two, I wish it was faster than it is, Three it takes alot of room with the size of it. Is there anything in particular that you love/hate about it? Well I guess as said I love it because I can’t live without a computer and I hate it again because I am only able to connect with the internet in my home.

    Pros:

-Has multitouch and accurate stylus writing

-screen is amazingly bright and crisp (DLV LED)

    -plays 1080p movies

    Cons

-its crap for video encoding, and OCR recognition in my 300mb PDF scanns of notes i get from univeristy

-the battery only lasts 3 hours

    -feels fragile

I reall love that Windows 7 with multitouch and Office 2010 beta run AMAZING on it. It’s fast for everyday tasks such as Onenote and Outlook. However, the HD is SLOW and i really thing a SSD would boost the performance incredibly, but my student budget can’t afford it. (The XT2 was a replacement for the XT i bough refurb from Dell)

I have an HP NC6000 which is getting on a little bit. It’s fairly reliable, but is slowly starting to rattle and die x_x

Despite it’s relatively poor performance and lack of features (eg webcam, graphics card, fingerprint scanner etc), here are my top 3 hates:

    1) Dim screen. Even with AC power the display gives me a headache.

    2) Dodgy/malfunctioning perhipherals. eg Using the card-reader hangs the machine 9/10 times.

    3) Touchpad. Intermittent fault where the cursor doesn’t go anywhere! Very frustrating if I leave my mouse at home.

    On the other hand though, it;

    1) has kinda decent battery life (3-4 hours+ which is awesome for its age!)

    2) isn’t a huge liability (Not very likely to be stolen, and if it blows up it’s not a huge issue)

    3) okay… I’m out of ideas. Sorry!

    Pro:

    - It’s and HP which for every computer I’ve ever owned, means quality. I trust that its going to last me a while.

    - It’s tiny. In fact, I bought it because it was light enough to go into my carry-on luggage – even though it is a desktop. Makes moving easier.

    - It’s quiet.

    - Throwing Win7 on it caused 0 problems.

    Cons:

    - I’m trying my best, but I just can’t think of any. Big hard drive, lotsa memory, small, small price tag and footprint. What’s not to love.

    - I suppose it could come with a second monitor port. That would be nice.

I am running an HP a1730n desktop with upgraded RAM and graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT). I like that with the RAM and video card I can run a few games.

    Pros:

    - It is upgradeable well beyond the limits of a notebook;

    - More bang for my buck compared to a notebook. I priced out similar components for my own build, and this came about $100 and an OS under what I could do for myself.

    - Lots of internal bays.

    Cons:

I currently have an Asus V1JP.

Pros – Very nice screen at a nice definitions, durable and attractive magnesium case, great performance with the SSD upgrade.

Cons – The line is plagued with battery problems. It eats a battery in 3 to 6 months regardless of your usage patterns. I wish it had a backlit keyboard (I wish the envy 15 did too!). No 64 bit Win 7 driver for the video card yet.

I have really enjoyed this laptop with the exception of the battery problem. I knew I wanted it from the first reviews I saw of it. Now that I’m ready for a replacement the choice seems to be much more difficult.

Cons–well, it’s a desktop, so I’m really limited, also it’s getting older (maybe 4 years old), and Dell service is pretty lousy. What I love–XP Pro, and what I hate–that it’s a desktop.

    3. Doesn’t crash often

    3. Flimsy screen brackets that wobble when I move it around.

I have a Sony Vaio that is around six or seven years old. I replaced the hard drive and within weeks, it crashed on me. It was actually a very reliable computer. I now use my parents one which is an HP m7330n. It’s quite good but I have noticed lately that it loads a little slower. It acts up as well by updating the Windows but never seem to really update it if that makes any sense. The media center stopped responding as well. I now cannot watch or record television shows, that’s what I liked about this so much. I’m happy with it, but it’d be nice to not have to sit in one spot. I don’t own a laptop so this is something I would truly want to win.

Pros: It is an HP (haven’t had good luck with other brands). It has Windows XP and not Vista on it. It is still running..lol!!

Cons: It is getting a lot slower. The battery no longer holds a charge. We have had to replace the power cord 4 times in the last year.

I love that it is a notebook because it has given us a lot more freedom.

I hate the fact that we have had to replace the power cord so many times. It started when my toddler knocked the computer onto the floor and it snapped the end of the power cord off. All the replacement cords have been junk and only last a couple of months before they stop powering the computer.

I’m currently using a Toshiba A135-S2356 Satellite notebook.

    Pros:

    1. Cheap (was at the time, at least)

    2. Gets common basic home tasks done fine: web, e-mail, photo up/downloading

    3. Not too heavy as a desktop replacement

    Cons:

    1. Windows Vista

    2. Low installed RAM memory (had to add extra to make Vista’s speed tolerable)

    3. Quality issues: USB ports stopped working (used the warranty to ship it for repairs), Wi-Fi sometimes doesn’t turn on, battery life practically non-existant after a couple years use

What I love? It was cheap (previous Toshiba Satellite we had crashed, so we needed a quick replacement). That’s about it. My main “hate” is that quality is shaky at best. Software-wise it hasn’t been too bad after the RAM upgrade but problems with the USB ports & Wi-Fi don’t sit well with me.

I’ve got a Dell GX-270. I love that it’s got a decent processor, plenty of ram, and more USB ports than I could fill in a lifetime. I don’t like that it’s not portable, the graphics card lacks HD support, and the optical drive on it only reads DVD, as opposed to reading and writing. In general, I’m just glad it’s not my ancient homebrew that, for years, had less than even a gig of ram because its motherboard was perpetually failing.

    It’s a desktop that I put together, ASUS A8n-SLI, AMD 64 3400.

Pros: relatively fast, I can easily add memory, I can easily add additional hard drives.

Cons: I can’t leave my desk (portability is nonexistant), I am at the end of my XP operating system useful life, I am hesitant to upgrade components because I’ll be spending money on something with a short life expectation.

  214. Justin Price says:

    I currently use a Samsung NC10-12PWBK

the pros and cons as listed,

    Pros:

1)Portability, portability, portability. I tell you my friends, after having a 10.1″ computer for a week, my father’s 15″ acer seems to weigh a metric ton.

2)Net Anywhere. the 12PWBK is wimax enabled, and I gotta tell you, the down speed is amazing. I’ll be at the bus stop pushing an amazing amount of speed on my torrents.

    3) Free! I didn’t pay a red dime for it, rather, my wimax service gave it to me when I signed up.

    Cons:

1)And this is a big one. It lacks punch. I can’t play any sort of game on this thing, I have trouble with flash games, it’s really a pain.

    2) 1.6GHz processor really slows things down, I find I can’t have everything I normally have running going, lest it become sluggish and unresponsive

    3) Well, it just doesn’t have the graphical chops to handle HD or fullscreen video, the speakers aren’t great for listening to music, and it just wasn’t meant for multimedia

as a side note, I’ve had to send this thing in for repairs twice in the two months I’ve owned it and now the wifi and wimax cards are going spotty…

I’m using an Acer Aspire Timeline 3810T. I’ve had it for about a month. It’s my first laptop. It’s really kind of a cross between a laptop and a netbook. It’s very lightweight, just 3.5 pounds. The 13.3″ screen is small, but adequate for browsing, email, and word processing. It has a 500gb hard drive, which is amazing for a laptop. The only thing I don’t like about it is the 1.4ghz processor. It’s not enough to run a good graphics program. It’s inconvenient not to have a CD or DVD drive, but that’s the trade-off for the weight. I’m getting used to the touchpad, but I still have a tendency to brush against it with the heel of my hand when I’m typing. It’s easy enough to turn it off, when I think to do it. Why don’t they put the touchpad at the top of the keyboard instead of the bottom? I think that would be better for me, but maybe I’m weird that way. Also, it’s a gesture touchpad, so I’ll try to move the cursor across the page and suddenly find myself scrolling, which is unnerving. Overall, though, I adore the computer. We were a one-computer household, and it is so great not to have to fight over whose turn it is.

I currently use an Sony VAIO Z customized notebook and it’s over a year old. I love the large 13″ screen, the fast processor it came with and the HP tools (hp health check, hp help & support) that came preinstalled on it.

    Pros:

Free (parents bought it for us)

I loved that it was just what I needed when I upgraded from my HP Pavillion 5 years ago.

That it hasn’t completely died on me as of yet.

    Cons:

I hate that it is now outdated and can’t use most programs

    Slow as molasses

It’s not portable, so I am stuck in one room when I use it.

Too big and hot, and honestly OSX is way overrated–three big cons, but I have it ’cause I have to have some kind of Mac for development. Pros though would be 1) multi-touch track pad (must have in any new laptop), 2) amazing magnetic power connector, and 3) bought just before they went brain dead and made the batteries non-removable and the screens all glossy.

Hate: that neither battery will hold a charge any more; the second RAM slot no longer recognizes RAM modules; many newer apps take forever to run….

    -2x 24inch monitors are amazing.

-Generates lots of heat and high power consumption

    Cons

    +Display is not very bright

+Lacking ports like IEEE1394, eSATA, Express Card, HDMI, etc

+Wretched onboard speaker, my cell phone sounds better.

It has been rock solid and for that I love it. What I hate, is that for the past 3+ years there has been very little gain in the laptop market, until now. Like at the time I bought the D620 (Pentium M > Core Duo)

I am currently using an HP Pavilion zd7168cl notebook computer.

    It’s top 3 pros:

    1) I’ve had this machine for 5 years and it still works decently.

    2) It has a graphics card (Nvidia GeForce FX go5600).

    3) It has a big screen (17 inches).

    It’s top 3 cons:

    1) The battery is essentially dead so I need to keep it plugged in at all times.

    2) It’s very heavy.

    3) The screen hinge is broke so the screen can’t stand on it’s own.

I really love this computer because it had a desktop class Pentium 4 with Hyper Threading and it can still keep up with alot of computers this day and age. However, I hated the fact that it really wasn’t mobile and it was a pain to lug it around while I was in school.

It’s small enough to easily fit in the back of my wheelchair, has a long enough battery life with its six-cell battery to let me go several hours without plugging it in, and was relatively inexpensive. Cons: It’s slow booting up, the screen is small (but useuable), and requires an external optical drive if you need to use CDs or DVDs. The portability is the biggest positive factor for me.

    what i like:

    2) fast dual core processor

    3) crazy battery life when considering the performance of this thing

    what i don’t like:

    1) the price i paid for this thing

    2) how running Windows on it lowers the performance of the computer significantly

    3) it’s a little bit heavy but i like the large screen

Being a graphics artist, I love my MBP!

I’ve currently got an Asus EEE 900HA.

I chose it for a number of reasons including…

-Low Price (Important For A Netbook)

-Battery life of around 4 hours with the standard 3-cell battery

-Extreme portability thanks to its small size

However, its got a few flaws, including…

-A relatively small keyboard, much less comfortable and slower to type on than a 10″ model

-Lack of processing power, obviously due to the Atom processor

-Smallish screen resolution is an annoyance, but most netbooks use the same screen, so no real choice here

Overall, its a fantastic little computer that can do most of what I want it to do. I just wish it had a slightly higher resolution.

My son owns HP products and raves about them. A new HP Envy would be wonderful. Plus Windows 7. Reading alot of good things about it.

  301. I am using an HP Pavilion a6030n PC with a HP 24″ widescreen monitor & AMD Athlon 64 X2 DualCore Processor.

I absolutely love my HP and I’ve never used any other brand (my last computer which eventually died on me was also an HP). Although it’s had a few hiccups (a month after I purchased it, it started crashing for no reason), the problem was quickly fixed and it’s been running smooth ever since.

    Top 3 Pros:

    1.Multi-tasking is a breeze

2.Visual effects are superb (graphics, site displays, videos etc.)

3.It’s as quiet as a sleeping baby

    Top 3 Cons:

1.The computer itself is big (I wish it was smaller and took up less space)

2.Starts running slow if I don’t shut it down often(I wish I could keep it on all day everyday and it would still run fast)

3.Sound quality is average(It would be nice if the sound could be louder and then I wouldn’t have to go out and by extra speakers)

    3. It’s not portable.

    Pro:

    1. It hasn’t had a problem since I wiped it a year ago.

    3. I can still use the internet.

Is there anything in particular that you love/hate about it?

The cons are it can’t do any of the work I need to get done like programming in Labview and Flash and doing pic and vid editing, and of course it can’t play games. It’s not HD. I have a Toshiba Satellite L305D-5895 laptop. Some of its pros are that its CPU, a 2.0 GHz dual-core Turion, is fast enough for what I’ve been doing, it has a good amount of RAM, 3 GB, and the 15.4″ screen is fairly good. Some of its cons are that the trackpad buttons were really stiff when it was new, though they’re better now, I dislike trackpads (I prefer the pointing sticks that used to be more common, but are only used in some fairly expensive laptops nowadays, but), and I’ve nearly filled up the 250 GB hard drive. What I love most about it is that the price was great for what it has. What I hate most about it is that the fan intake is on the bottom, and I have to be careful not to put it on a surface that would block it.

    2. It’s super light and portable – don’t know how many times I’ve been asked how I like my netbook

    3. Its low power consumption and long-lasting battery keep me from being tethered to the nearest outlet wherever I go

    Cons:

    1. Graphically challenged – I’m not a hard-core gamer, but would like to occasionally play Unreal 2007 at a nice res or watch 1080p video.

    2. Slow, small disk – the included 60GB 5400rpm drive sips the power but can also be painfully slow recovering from hibernate under Vista Business.

    3. Cracked screen – One of my daughters was jumping on the bed, and I found out the glass surface is tough but not actually indestructable :(

As a software developer I’d absolutely love the Envy’s screen resolution and horsepower for compiling and running large client/server projects with jboss & multiple IDEs

    I currently own a 2710p tablet:

    Pros:

    1. It’s a tablet: inking, pdf annotation, drawing – that is when I can pry it away from my twin 5-year-old daughters playing Itza Bitza, poissonrouge.com or Herbi Writer (herbi.org)

    2. It’s super light and portable – don’t know how many times I’ve been asked how I like my netbook

    3. Its low power consumption and long-lasting battery keep me from being tethered to the nearest outlet wherever I go

    Cons:

What kind of computer (make and model) are you currently using? What are the top three pros and cons of it? Is there anything in particular that you love/hate about it?

    Ia m using a Toshiba Portege M800-107

    Pros: Size – ports/conectivity – winxp/vista license

Cons: battery life – sound quality – a lit bit noisy fan

I love its white color and hate, nothing special :)

What kind of computer (make and model) are you currently using?

HP Media Center PC..hmm I think that is what you wanted. Runs on Vista.

What are the top three pros and cons of it?

    Pro

    1. new easier search for files

    2. Clean and faster

    3. easy access up front for multiple personal media discs

    Con:

    1. Can not see what is loading up on Start-up. It could be junk I do not want. Not clear names of programs.

    2. Vista is not very helpful as to what it can do. “Go to site to view” and site says sorry you need to download player. If run Vista should be able to run vista info from vista site.

    3. Small one: ready lite is so very bright that it seems to be a laser.

Is there anything in particular that you love/hate about it?

Love the search. Type in start area and it gives you the many choices everywhere on the computer.

Hate that word does not follow suite, so I could type in part of the name of a file and it would give me a list of choices.
