Video Demo of AMD’s Second Generation Ultrathin Platform
AMD introduced the Second Generation AMD Ultrathin Platform today. The new platform has improved battery performance and improved graphics. In this video John Taylor from AMD shows us an ASUS notebook based on AMD’s second generation ultra-thin platform.
John Taylor demonstrates how a GPU helps transcode video clips significantly faster than notebooks with integrated graphics.
According to AMD, notebooks based on the new platform can run for up to an hour longer than those based on AMD’s previous ultrathin platform.

GPU encoding is roughly the same speed as using CPUs when comparing apples and apples. That means you’re comparing equivalent quality and multithreaded CPU code.
