What Happened to All That Palm Pre Buzz?

| June 8, 2009 | 2 Comments

We’ve been talking a lot about the iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 3.0 today, but haven’t mentioned the Palm Pre once. According to analysts, approximately 50,000 Palm Pres were sold over the weekend, which is a success by just about any measure.

Today the focus shifted to WWDC and chatter about the Pre has died down. The Sprint Pre is a very slick device, but I don’t expect to hear a whole lot about it compared to the iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 3.0 over the next several days.

While googling around for some info about the Palm Pre’s launch day I found this image over at Peteryan.net, which pretty much sums up the difference between the Palm Pre’s and iPhone’s launch days.

Beautiful phone, beautiful interface. Not enough to pry me from my iPhone (software ecosystem rules and is just starting to accelerate), but a stellar effort from Palm to be sure. Too little too late? I hope not.
