Apple iPhone 3G vs. iPhone 3GS vs. Palm Pre vs. HTC G1
Apple once again has taken the blogosphere by storm with their latest iteration of the iPhone and its software. The Palm Pre was released just this Saturday and the blogs were ablaze with chatter (until today) with all things Pre. Earlier this month, Google’s Android development team released the much anticipated cupcake update (Firmware 1.5). With all the news coming at breakneck speed, it’s difficult to stay abreast of all the developments and all the details. Below is an attempt to highlight the hardware differences between four devices, the iPhone 3G, the new iPhone 3GS, the Palm Pre, and the HTC G1 in a concise table. As you can see, the hardware is very closely matched.

the Palm Pre will get video with an update later on. the only reason they didnt include video and voice control on the 3G with 3.0 software is because they want you to have to PAY for the best new features that only apple can offer. You can already buy things like voice recorders in the App Store LEGITAMITLY im not talking jailbreaking.
But that is why the palm pre “can” add video with the same camera whereas the iphone “can’t”.

the old iphones processor was just over 400 mhz (i wanna say 435), the new one according to an accidental t-mobile leak is 600 mhz. the article says the 3g is 620 and the new one is twice as fast. thats almost a 1.3 GHz PHONE! weird error, but awesome to consider

sooo… basicly the G1 pwns the others, but i already knew that. whats kinda gay is that nearly every single new feature on the 3gs is a rip off of the G1(G1 got an update months before the 3gs was released that gave it a load of new features and it already had many of the “new” 3gs features)

i have both the G1 and an Iphone 3G… have owned iphones since the first gen. I really wanted to like the G1 better than my Iphone. But honestly i find myself using it less and less…. its just not in the same class… i wish it was and perhaps with Android updates and improvements it will be good competition. It cannot compete graphically or on a enterprise level and until it does it will not be in the running.
