Gadget Stimulus Plan Day 8: HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless Printer, Scanner
We’re trying to close your gadget deficit while the economy’s in the dumps with the Gadget Stimulus Plan. Today we’re giving away an HP Photosmart C6380 that can print and scan wirelessly.
The Photosmart C6380 is a really slick device that interacts really well with mobile devices. You can print and scan from any computer on your network, scan documents directly onto a thumb drive and print photos directly from your camera’s memory card. With HP iPrint you can print directly from your iPhone or iPod Touch.
I bought the Photosmart 6380 as a Christmas present for myself and have been very pleased with its features and performance. Since it’s wireless it doesn’t clutter my desk and I really like its dual paper trays. The main tray is big enough for standard letter-sized paper and the smaller one is built especially for the most common photo paper sizes. This means I don’t have to remove and replace paper as often as I used to.
The Photosmart C6380 can scan images at up to 4800dpi optically, or 19200dpi with enhancements. It can print black and white documents at up to 33 pages per minute.
The HP Photosmart C6380 retails for $199.99 and is probably the best value in the Photosmart All-in-One lineup. It’s often on sale for between $129 to $149 from HP, Amazon and other retailers.
There are three ways to enter to win the HP Photosmart C6380 , and you may enter once in each of the three ways.
1) Leave a comment on this GottaBeMobile article and tell us which devices you’ll use with the Photosmart C6380 and why you want it.
2) Leave a comment on this article (below) and tell us what kind of frustrations you’re having with your current printer and what your first printing experience was like.
3) Go to Twitter.com and tweet the following:
I entered to win an HP Photosmart C6380 from the Gadget Stimulus Plan http://tinyurl.com/cgsz75 #GadgetStimulus8 @hpcheerâ€
You have until Sunday, March 29 at 8pm PDT to enter. We’ll assign every entry a number and use Random.org to randomly draw a winner.

Since it looks like HP sponsored this giveaway I guess I better not bash them to hard, but then again this may regain my trust in HP. Currently I’m using an HP j6480 and I must say this POS has put a very bad taste in my mouth for HP products in general. When I purchased mine this model had just hit retail, so of course there weren’t hardly any reviews. (Oh boy, was that a big mistake!) At the time I even recommended this model to a family member, boy did I go wrong there too. Go read the reviews now, it comes with very poor software. I must add, using it for a printer works almost every time. I’ll give it that but you can forget about scanning, either using the front panel buttons or loading the app from a system. No go, fails almost every time. It’s not just me, read the current reviews. I’m not going to bore you with the rest of the details with this printer but it definitely made me lose my trust in HP. Me and quite a few others have been waiting for at least a firmware or software updates from HP to no avail. Could winning this C6380 regain my trust in HP? Only time will tell…

Wouldn’t you know, just for the heck of it I went to HPs site after posting that first comment. They issued an update for connectivity issues on the 12th of this month. About time HP, it’s taken long enough! Anyway, if this updates fixes my printer issues as well as the family member I recommended the j6480 to that will be awesome. As for the giveaway, if that is the case, I have another family member in mind that I could give this C6380 to.

Well, our older HP isn’t wireless, and doesn’t play nicely over the network. So everyone has to use USB drives and go to my wife’s PC to print! We’d use it for all the Macs and PC’s on the network.

My current printer is a 920c – works well and is used frequently with no problems. ANother printer, especially ine that is wireless would ease the backlog of multiple print jobs.

My first printer was connected to my TRS-80 (Radio Shack) computer. The only problem was buying the paper with the holes on the side. That was many moons ago.
My present printer is a HP6l laserjet connected to my Vista laptop. It works and I’m satisfied.

Printers in my house just. don’t. work. The most recent frustration is that one of the family laptops (the one my parents use to write documents and read email) will not start its print spooler service. So I’m left with booting my ancient slow desktop to try to open whatever they need and print it from there.

The current printer I have is nice and all. It’s just that it doesn’t have a scanner with it. A scanner is what I would love to have included in a printer and I’ve been hounding my hubby for one for a very long time.
My frustrations are fully on the fact that I have to go to the bank or kinko’s (print company) to get things scanned and copied because our current printer doesn’t have that necessity…this would really do some good in my home since I’m currently an online student and need a scanner for certain assignments.
Thanks for the stimulus giveaways!!!!

What a nightmare printing from my current printer. I have to go to settings and change everything to print photo’s not to mention changing the tray and the paper every time I want to print a photo. The Photosmart C6380 would make my photo printing a breeze~! I can tell you four reason I would love this printer. One it is wireless. Two it has memory card slot and I can use it to print photo’s directly from my Canon PowerShot SX10 Sl. Three it has two separate paper compartments. Four I can use it with all my gadgets such as my HP Pavilion PC, My Canon Camera and my notebook. Thanks for having this Review and Giveaway

My biggest frustration right now is when the printer and the computer stop talking to each other. So far the only thing that I’ve found that works is to reboot the whole system! Small price though, for a good printer.

Well my current printer is on its last leg –
it constantly is eating paper or jamming up!
It has been an excellent printer though – just getting a bit outdated worked great when it was new

Well my current CANON never seems to spool up, and when it does print it often prints not on the full page. I really have no idea how they could ever sell it!

I currently don’t have a printer. I moved from NY to CA, and couldn’t bring everything, and my mom didn’t want to mail it to me. She thinks I should just get a new one because the one in NY is about 6yrs old.
My first printing experience ever? Or the one with my NY-printer? I can’t remember the latter, but I can with my first ever printer surprisingly.
I was in 5th grade, and about to hand in my first ever paper the next day. Of course, I liked to procrastinate, so I didn’t write it until the night before.
It was then that I realized that my printer was practically out of ink, and it was too late to go and buy some more (and my mom wanted me suffer for doing things late).
So, I handed in a gray paper. Luckily, I still got an A on it.
It was only the 5th grade.

My current Printer is a Dell A920 which I got on sale from Dell a few years ago. The replacement cartridges cost more than the printer itself so I only use it as a scanner now.
If I win this printer I will ditch the Dell and use it with the PC I built myself, as well as my Canon SD1000 digital camera.

I’ve gone through 3 different HP All-in-One printers, in the last year. They 2 died quickly, one was cheaper to buy a new one then to replace the ink in the old one, it was on sale… I moved to a Kodak printer and it’s much better. I’d give this one to a friend that needs a printer and hope it’s better then the past models. Until HP stops charging gold prices for their ink, I’m done with them.

Would use this to add colour printing back to my network, mainly for photos. I gave up on inkjets a while ago and switched to a network attached laser (Samsung ML-3051ND) which has been fabulous. Having a scanner again would be great for the odd document I currently need to fax and for the kids doing school projects.

My current printer, a Samsung laser printer, works OK for me. Its limitations are that it only prints black and white, and it has to be connected with a cable.
My first printing experience was with an Epson FX-80 9-pin dot matrix printer hooked up to an original IBM PC. Being able to edit in a word processor was vastly more convenient than having to retype entire pages on a typewriter.

Go figure out why, the printer pluged on my parent’s computer doesn’t want to be share over the network… and trust me I tried pretty much everything. I thought buying a print server, but then never really had the time. Also I don’t know if it’s me or epson is constantly diminishing the quantity of ink in their cartriges! I always have the feeling that I’m paying way too much for so few pages.

my personal printer is long dead–not sure what happenned, wouldn’t feed paper. i use my school’s printers exclusively now though it isn’t convenient. my first printing experience was back in the days of the printers that had the “spools” of paper that were all attached together: graphics took forever to print i remember. oh those were the days…

My current HP Printer has been recalled so I’d love to win this one to replace it. Quite frankly I’m very happy with HP, and brand loyal, my laptop is HP. I would use this printer with my laptop, and also to print pictures taken with my cell phone that I’m just too lazy to put in the computer!
Love that this baby is an all in one, takes up less real estate on my already over-cramped desk!

My biggest printer problem is with my laptop and my printer at work. We have a networked color laserjet at work, and it ALWAYS gets screwed up when I hibernate my laptop. When I resume my laptop, the printer is stuck in Offline mode, and I have to uninstall it and reinstall the printer. It is a pain in the butt.
My first printer experience was with a dot matrix printer hooked to a Tandy computer my mother got from work….monochrome green screen, running 5.25 inch floppys and boxes of paper with the dotted edges that fed the paper through the printer. Tearing those edges off were a pain….especially with long documents.

the frustrating thing about my printer is that it has a mind of its own, it works when it wants to.Its not very reliabale at all.I remember my first printer, I guess it it was a dot matrix. I remember having to buy the spools of paper, and they always got jammed up in the feed. Also, the noise was crazy loud, screeching…I don’t miss that at all!

Right now my current printer prints erratic/faint images. Repeatedly it indicates that I need new ink, but new ink cartridges make no difference. SOS!

The current frustration I have with my printer is that it is not wireless and I always have to be close to it to print anything. Also the scanning isn’t really that great on it.

My first experience printing something was in 1996 on my local library’s black and white printer. This was back in the days before I had a computer, and would go to the library to access the Internet. Aaah, memories!
My current printer frustrations? Sometimes I hit “print” and it doesn’t spit it out until 15 minutes later!
Thanks so much for the chance!

Thanks so much for the chance!

In my wine sales job I have to print out color catalogs, brochures, ‘shelf-talkers’ etc.
I have trusty 5 year old Dell dimension 4600 desktop and a trusty 5 years old HP printer that while the quality is nice it is relatively slow and goes thru no small amount of ‘not-so-cheap’ ink cartridges – and my room/PC configuration is such that I have to plug/unplug the usb cable every time I want to print.
So having a newer wireless version that is more efficient with ink and higher performing would save me a nice chunk of time, aggravation and money to help keep me getting more catalogs and brochures into customers hands.
My first printing experience? hmmm… inauspicious to say the least… was printing out a customer contract and the paper jammed… I had apparently not quite set it up properly… but I sure learned in a hurry and it has printed literally thousands of pages for me since.

You guys are improper, and really should not be so tough around the writer. This site seems to be devoted to stating their own view, which the majority of us have. I detest when people attempt to talk lousy about a person due to the fact their viewpoint differs from others. Look at all by yourself previously you are trying to speak about someone else.
