The Schlage LiNK lock allows you to control access to your home or business from any device with a web browser.

This lock can send you an SMS everytime someone unlocks your door.

We stopped by the Schlage booth at CES 2009 to check it out for ourselves.

Here’s the full press release from Schlage:

SCHLAGE LiNK Door Locks

The first and only wireless-controlled door locks, the Schlage LiNKâ„¢ allows homeowners to remotely control and monitor access to their home 24/7 via its web portal or mobile application. The new Schlage LiNK door locks provide keyless entry through 4-digit codes, which can be entered, activated or disabled via the Schlage LiNK web portal, mobile application or on the lock’s 11-digit push button keypad.

This innovative security system gives homeowners the freedom to never worry about their house keys or the need to circulate keys to family members, friends and service providers like housekeepers and dog walkers.

The locks are designed for easy installation by do-it-yourselfers of all levels and can be used anywhere in the home a traditional lock is being used.

Features:

  • E-mail and text message notifications for access code tracking
  • 90-day reporting of time/day codes were used

  • Starter kit includes one Schlage LiNK door lock, a Z-Wave Bridge and one wireless compatible light module
  • Plug and play simplicity and easy installation in less than 30 minutes

Hey this door lock is neat.

    Big Big problem

    Monthly Fee for Life

This is a Zwave device but nobody else can control it. The Zwave controller Schlage has is lakking support for many types of great Zwave devices. Like the Zwave Thermostat. and other sensors. Zwave is supposed to be interoperable with all other Zwave Devices that Have the Zwave Brand

The lock works great, and you do *NOT* need to buy the Schlage bridge or pay the Schlage monthly service. Vera, from Mi Casa Verde, fully supports the Schlage locks, uses the same level of security, also supports remote access from web and cell phone, does everything the Schlage bridge does and MUCH MORE (see: http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Side_By_Side_Comparison). And there is *NO* mandatory subscription fee. Through 3/31/09 Mi Casa Verde is giving everyone who buys Vera + the Schlage LiNK a lifetime subscription to their online hosted services as well, which is normally $199. You save $100 by buying the Schlage lock without their bridge, plus $150/year by not using their subscription, and $199 from Mi Casa Verde. See: http://micasaverde.com/schlage_promo.php This makes it more affordable, and you get a real, full-featured home control system that supports all Z-Wave devices and does energy monitoring too.
