I have been using a free trial version of a third party defragmenter called Diskeeper 2009 Pro for the last one week, and it's awesome. Far faster and more thorough than the Vista defragger. Finishes defragging in a fraction of the time it used to take Vista, so it doesn't grind away the disk for hours. http://www.diskeeper.com has the free trial version that I downloaded.
