I have been looking for a new laptop and am so confused as to what I really need
So I bought this thing. And I got Office Depot to do their whole little system overhaul with the Home Office and McAfee. I’m not sure I’m too happy. It seems a bit slow. And maybe I’m just ignorant, but it doesn’t have 250 GB of hard drive space. The C drive + the recovery drive equal to about 232.2 GB. IS that normal? And that number is the total memory, not just the free space.
Gus, I have a similar system and while it’s not the snappiest computer in the world I find it sufficient for most everyday tasks. What is it that you notice as being slow?
The 250GB number is the size of the Hard drive before it is formatted. There’s also a recovery partition which houses the software that originally came on your computer. This includes Vista.

I bought this computer and am not having any problems with it whatsoever so far. I have compared it with some higher end computers in the $1,000+ range and the processor is still screaming fast. I suspect that most of the complaints are from people who know little about computers. All hard drives and memory capacities are never the exact amount that are listed on the box. System resources use up some of this capacity as reserve.
I don’t understand why you have to mail the rebate coupons the same day that you bought the computer? If I did not do this, does this mean that I am not getting the rebates?
Thanks for sharing Jim, you don’t HAVE to send the rebates in the same day, I just suggest you do so you don’t forget. It’s easy to let that kind of stuff slide and get stuck with no rebate.

Thanks Xavier for clearing that up for me, I thought as much of the hard drive. As for what’s lagging- it had to do with the page loading (and no, it’s not my interent connection), I figured out that I had to switch over from the 32 bitversion of IE to the 64 bit version. It’s perfect now. The only problem I have with this computer now is that the left click sticks, and that the disk drive is reall sensitive- If I nudge the bottom, it pops open. But that’s probably just my computer, I’ll take it in and have Office Depot fix it for me.

can this play games well
No, I wouldn’t buy this notebook as a gaming machine if you want to play first person shooters or other 3D games. It’s fine for online games though. What do you have in mind?
