Black Frday: HP Pavilion G50 for $399 at Circuit City
Circuit City is another retailer that will be selling the HP Pavilion G50 budget notebook on Black Friday. Circuit City will be selling a Pavilion G50 with 2GB of memory, 160GB hard drive and Windows Home Premium for $399.99 after $250 in savings.
The MSRP is $649.99 on this configuration. Unfortunately, Circuit City requires a $150 rebate to take full advantage of this Black Friday deal. One problem with mail in rebates is that many buyers never bother to send in the proper rebate forms.
Circuit City is offering a second HP Pavilion G50 on Black Friday for $499.99 with similar specs to the $399 Pavilion G50. The only difference seems to be that the more expensive one has a 250GB hard drive instead of a 160GB one.

Please be sure to check out our holiday giveaways, including the $300,000 HP Magic giveaway where 50 blog readers will win three HP notebooks, an HP TouchSmart Desktop and several accessories . We’re also giving away 20 Seagate Hard Drives. You’ll also get to discover some great Web sites in the process.

Did anyone else buy this laptop ($399.99) from another circuit city? I bought this one in Wilmington Delaware? They were charging a mandatory $39.99 for a setup fee where the techs opened all the boxes started up the computers and removed all the “un necessary” software. There were no if ands or buts you had to buy this they were adding it right at the register. This was not stated anywhere on the add or in the store and there was no statement to sign acknowledging you “agreed” with the charge. I want to know if anyone else had the same experience at another circuit city store.

Hi, I purchased this computer too in Portchester, NY at a Staples.. It’s the same as yours the Pavilion G50 and let me tell you this much you were robbed your money and your rights contractually no manufacturer of this notebook demanded such behaviors as your store made mandatory. I would start up a lawsuit right away and everyone get their money back and this store get a black-eye for dishonesty. Absurd thing to hear.. absolutely absurde and criminal too!!

I also purchased this notebook on black Friday. I sent in the $150 rebate and it was confirmed. They never gave me my rebate and there is no way of contacting anybody about it.
I actually got the $39.99 taken off that I originally complained about. But yes I got confirmed that the rebate was accepted and supposedly the check was cut. They said 2 wait 8 weeks, I on over 13 weeks. I guess we got screwed!

Hello again, I’m the ‘Gerard’ who commented first on this situation of the fee your store made you pay. I have since sold the laptop, though barely, on ebay. After the guy won it, he did research on it and wanted to cancel his bid but I had informed him I would have given him neg. feedback so he bought it. The laptop was/is garbage.. it’s a budget piece of junk, basically with shoddy components probably made by children in some Asian factory. Who knows but to be on-topic here I will again say to you that no store can ever mandate a labor/service onto a product that is made by a separate manufacturer. The whole idea of this is corrupt. I would start by calling HP and verify (tape the conversation) if they did indeed authorize your store to do some work on the computer prior to selling it. It’s outright silly to fathom such an idea. Sue them, I’ll sign any petition at any time. Take care, sorry you have this burden to bother you.
