Black Friday: HP G60 121WM Notebook for $448 at Walmart
Walmart will be selling the HP G60 121WM notebook as a Black Friday special for $448. A similar model normally costs $778 from Walmart, which means there’s a substantial $330 in savings if you can get your hands on one of these on Black Friday.
This Black Friday notebook is a retail-only HP computer with a model number built exclusively for Walmart. The G60 121WM model number won’t be found on HP’s Web site or at other retailers, but if you want to do some comparison shopping just compare all Pavilion G60 notebooks with similar specs. There may be minor variations between G60′s found at various retailers in terms of processor speed and hard drive size, but all G60′s will have the same set of features.
The G60-121WM comes with 3GB of memory, 160GB hard drive, DVD burner and an AMD Sempron 2.0GHz processor.
This notebook should serve its purpose for basic home use, but it’s definitely one of HP’s lower-end notebooks.

Linda- this notebook will do just fine for that. Just be sure to get yourself a backup drive if you’re going to wipe your memory cards after transferring them to your computer.

Does anyone have experience trying to get something like this from Walmart? Any guesses as to whether they will actually have this in stock? Is this one of those deals you have to get in line early to get or can I just drop by sometime on Friday and pick it up?

How much extra is it to get it with a stable OS instead of Vista? I’d like to get full use of the RAM instead of sacrificing most of it to Vista while the applications I bought the laptop for run like a smokers marathon.

Mahmoud- you can always install Linux or XP at your own convenience if you have the skills to do that, but the G60 121Wm comes as it is-no customization available.

Brittany- It completely depends on the specifications of your dv6000, but the dv6000 is a relatively recent notebook and I wouldn’t suggest trading it in quite yet unless there’s something you’re really not happy with.

Save your money, dish out the extra $100 for the other laptop Walmart has for sale (which is substantially better) and is definitely worth an extra 100 if you’re going to spend 450 anyway.

ryan, you’re a boob. there is nothing wrong with the sempron processor. it is just fine for the capabilities of this laptop. not everyone is steven hawking doing complex calculations, or extreme graphic intense programs. it’s for surfing the web, facebook & movies. sheesh, isn’t it sort of hard to talk with your foot in your mouth?

David, the Intel Dual Core T3200 will blow this processor out of the water, but all in all it’s not a bad basic CPU. I’m still looking for more feedback before I open it and mess around with it. People who do that just to see if they’ll like it are jackarses.

How can you put XP on a Vista machine Im pretty sure the drivers will not match up and none of your built in devices on mainboard will work…..maybe someone knows somehting I dont! I have tried to do this with an HP and it did not work I had horrible graphics and couldnt even get the touchpad to work! On HPs website it did not even give me the options for xp drivers to download either

It’s a garbage computer. I bought it on Black friday sale. DO NOT GET THIS! It’s a single core and gets hung up on applications easily. The cursor gets frozen and the computer has to be put to sleep and reawoken to get it to work again. It plays videos choppy, and the audio is out of synch with the video. Thank god I’m returning it within the 15 day window.
I rather pay another $100 and get a better laptop at Best Buy. I will get a Dell , and never again an HP

this laptop is alright i wish now i would have invested in a desktop computer because i am a massive gamer but i have played alot of games and have did alot of tweaking on this and i also have used programs like adobe photoshop bryce daz studio 3d max works great i have used C# to creat apps this is a decent laptop as long as your not a hardcore gamer if anyone has any computer questions

Unfortunately, the screens on all G60 series are prone to breaking. HP techs are quick to tell you HP does not warrant the screens even though they are aware of the widespread defect. It starts as a black spot on your screen but eventually stripes all the way across it. HP techs told me to pray for a recall because unless that happens, I can expect to replace my screen every 6 months. There are so many other options out there, I'm planning on going with another brand.
