Update: The below article was from 2008. Those looking for the Free iPod Touch for the 2009 Back to School season should read this article.

Apple’s offering a free iPod Touch or iPod Nano to college-bound students and teachers with the purchase of any MacBook or MacBook Pro between now and September 15. The 8GB iPod Touch sells for $299, making it a very attractive bonus.

Those who prefer a 16GB or 32GB iPod Touch can get a $299 rebate towards the more expensive models.

This is an excellent deal if you’re already in the market for a MacBook. Apple doesn’t offer discounts on MacBooks, but it’s made free iPods a regular back to school affair in recent years. This has been the most generous offer so far.
