The glare on the screen isn't an issue at all. When I first opened mine, I was taken back by it thinking it would pose an issue as I require to be on my pc almost all day. Not a concern, once your display is up, you can't even tell. Your biggest concern should be the all the crashes you will experience. I am on notebook #2 and ready to return... Good luck

Not to worry, Dell Inspirons can be configured with an anti-glare screen (matte) or a glossy screen. Dell's doing a great job of offering options.

Why did DELL go to glossy displays? I'm considering upgrading to the 1720, but am very concerned about this new display. I work in various work environments and feel the reflection from the screen would become annoying very fast. The reflection issue was even present in your demo – what say you about the glossy screen?
