Apple Announces Faster MacBooks

MacBook BlackApple announced upgrades to its line of entry-level notebooks today. The refreshed MacBooks come with faster processors and bigger hard drives. Featuring Core 2 Duo processors, with speeds up to 2.16GHz, all of the new MacBooks come with 4MB of L2 cache and at least 1GB of memory.

“The MacBook is a huge hit with customers, and is one of the reasons that Mac sales are growing three times faster than PC sales,” said Philip Schiller, Appleâ€â„¢s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “The new MacBook is aster, has even more memory and storage, and is an ideal notebook for customersâ€â„¢ growing library of digital music, photos and movies.”

There are three trim levels available, which can be further customized with up to 200GB of storage and 2GB of memory.

The 2.0 GHz, 13-inch white MacBook, will cost $1,099 and includes an 80GB drive, 1GB of memory and DVD-ROM/CD-RW.

The 2.16 GHz, 13-inch white MacBook starts at $1,299 and includes a 120GB drive, 1GB of memory and a double-layer (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) optical drive.

The premium 2.16 GHz, 13-inch black MacBook will cost $1,499 and features a 160GB drive, 1GB of memory and a double-layer (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) optical drive.
