Happy Thanksgiving

| November 23, 2006 | 6 Comments

Thanks to everyone thatâ€â„¢s been reading this site. Weâ€â„¢re taking the day off to celebrate Thanksgiving. Iâ€â„¢ll be going down to a couple of electronics stores to pick up some goodies. Please comment on this post to let us know what Black Friday deals you score. We’d especially like to hear if any of you get  a deal on notebooks of course. Good luck!

Unfortunately, the vast majority of looking for those “door busters” left disappointed. For example, Circuit City near me had 11 $300 laptops available. I got in line at 11:30 PM for a 5 AM opening. I wasd 35th in line. By 4:15 AM when the store managers passed out “vouchers” for the lucky 11 customers, there were hundreds in line. Needless to say, I wasn’t far enough in line to score a laptop. Go figure…11 happy customers, hundreds of pissed off customers.

Do you think we’ll see more $300 deals?

Mike-thanks for telling us about your experience. Door busters are designed to do exactly what you described-get tons of people to the store early.
I think there will be more $300 deals this year, perhaps online.
The closest thing to that right now is HP’s Compaq Presario v3000 which is $399 with a free printer. If you’re buying for a student, the price is only $359 after rebate.
